Exhibition Time in Hong Kong

This year the timing is more than convenient: within the same week travelers from abroad will have the opportunity to visit three major trade venues and exhibitions in Hong Kong and Mainland China that all focus on consumer electronics, electronic products, computers, peripherals, various communication products and of course also USB flash drives.

Each of these trade fairs are of significant international importance, and all of them claim to be among the world's biggest and most significant venues of their kind:

Opening yesterday, the "Electronics & Components" part of the China Sourcing Fair, organized twice each year by Global Sources, is staged from October 12-15 in Hong Kong's AsiaWorld-Expo, conveniently located for international travelers and just next to the Airport. Announced as the "biggest ever China Sourcing Fair", this electronics and digital entertainment expo features more than 2900 booths and is said to have more than 1300 exhibitors and suppliers from Mainland China alone.

Next in line is this years Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Autumn Edition). Organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, and said to be the biggest electronics event in Asia, this exhibition stands out as this weeks main trade show. With an opening ceremony staged today, this huge exhibition will be held for 4 days and until Thursday 16th at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wanchai over on Hong Kong Island. Here you'll also be certain to find some of the main players and suppliers of USB flash drives and promotional USB products from Hong Kong and China.

And last but not least is the monumental classic among all China related exhibitions and trade events, the Canton Fair. Named "China Import and Export Fair" since 2007, this fair is co-hosted by the Ministry of Commerce of China and Guangdong Province. First held back in 1957 and looking back upon many years of of successful events, this year's 104th Canton Fair is divided into 3 parts, with the consumer electronics and electrical products being held from October 15th to 19th in Canton - aka Guangzhou. Within convenient reach by train from Hong Kong's Hung Hom Railway Station in Kowloon, and with regular departures every hour or so, we're sure to see crowds of business people and visitors to one or both of the Hong Kong events to travel over to benefit also from this additional mega-exhibition in Guangzhou.

As we've mentioned already earlier in April this year, all of these major events are certainly of great significance to the industry and trade, but can in general only serve as a platform for buyers and suppliers to meet and make contact. In-depth assessments are more likely to be made only after getting to know the manufacturers and suppliers better and through continuos every-day business relationships.

Given today's fast growing amount of serious b2b internet platforms and the convenience of internet search engines, where buyers are now able to successfully source suppliers and manufacturers from within the reach of their own office chair, at low-cost and 24/7, these trade events and fairs are probably not as significant and important as they once where. Back in the days before the internet and before the worldwide web became recognized as an efficient way of establishing new business relationships and source suppliers and trade partners, these events where of great importance and the most significant platform for most businesses and wholesaler to meet peers and partners.
